Eric Salas Shears
Every Eric Salas Shear is made of premium Japanese stainless steel—440C stainless steel with the highest carbon content in its series. It is heat treated to reach a hardness of 58–60 HRC. It is bearing steel and is used in rolling contact stainless bearings, such as ball and roller bearings. It is also used to make knife blades. 440C is oil quenched to achieve maximum hardness.

About the Shear Blades
Convex shears, originating in Japan, work well for cutting all hairstyles and for all cutting techniques. Their blades are very sharp, making them better suited for more experienced groomers. These types of blades also help create a smooth cutting action with ultra-detail. Offset grip shears allow more movement for the user and help reduce some of the over-extension of the thumb. They consist of asymmetrical rings in which the blade is in line with the handle and allow for precision cutting by keeping your fingers and hands out of the way. The flipper design also helps you cut accurately without any awkward angles.
Each shear has an adjustable precision, high-quality bearing, allowing you to regulate a certain amount of tension at the joint between the blade and handle. The proper balance is tight enough because a tension that's too loose won't cut as effectively, while one that's too tight requires greater force to open and close the blades. This makes our shears easier to use for long grooming days and allows you to do more precision cuts than other shears.
